More structured -- reverse chronological	Less structured -- can become what you want it to be
People have ownership over what they write and only they can edit it	Completely egalitarian -- students feel on the same level as instructor
Best for things that can be kept in chronological order - things that do not have to be in a directory style set up	Best for creating a knowledgebase, set of documents. or directory
Lends itself well to reflective writing and dialogue	Great for working in groups because everyone has equal editing rights
More pressure to post if each person has their own blog	Really have to trust your students
